Golden Moment for Donald Trump’s Campaign

With less than a month left until Election Day, Donald Trump needs to find a way to get his message out to voters, especially women, millennials and weak kneed Republicans. It’s been increasingly difficult for him to break through all the noise that the mainstream media broadcasts and prints to divert attention away from all the issues that our significant to the electorate. So it’s imperative that Donald slows this campaign down and speaks directly to the American people. He has masterfully done so throughout this election by garnering media attention that brought the spotlight on his policy positions and he’ll need to find several more opportunities before November 8th.

I believe there’s a golden opportunity right now to do just that. The MSM was aghast after debate #2 and mischaracterized Trump by saying that he would throw Hillary in jail just like a third world dictator would do. This is obviously not what Mr. Trump would do and he should be able to clarify the record.

The phony outrage conjured up by the press came from the ‘drop the mic’ moment of debate #2 when Hillary Clinton said, “it's just awfully good that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the law in our country.” Then Donald Trump interjected, “Because you'd be in jail.”

Also in that debate, Donald Trump, made one of the most important campaign promises of this election and could be on the same level of public resonance and support as, “build the wall” when he stated...

“And I'll tell you what. I didn't think I'd say this, but I'm going to say it, and I hate to say it. But if I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation, because there has never been so many lies, so much deception. There has never been anything like it, and we're going to have a special prosecutor.

When I speak, I go out and speak, the people of this country are furious. In my opinion, the people that have been long-term workers at the FBI are furious. There has never been anything like this, where e-mails -- and you get a subpoena, you get a subpoena, and after getting the subpoena, you delete 33,000 e-mails, and then you acid wash them or bleach them, as you would say, very expensive process.

So we're going to get a special prosecutor, and we're going to look into it, because you know what? People have been -- their lives have been destroyed for doing one-fifth of what you've done. And it's a disgrace. And honestly, you ought to be ashamed of yourself.”

What’s appealing about a special prosecutor is that most Americans believe our government has become corrupt and that the laws don’t apply to the well-connected as they do to the rest of us. How could the Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, not indict? And how could the FBI Director, James Comey, not call for a Grand Jury in this case, then give away immunity to all the key players and agree to destroy their laptops, and then finally, not recommend prosecution given all the criminal evidence that has been unearthed?

Campaign Promise

Donald Trump has the opportunity to clarify the record by communicating to the American people his new campaign promise to have a special prosecutor look into Hillary’s case. There needs to be an investigation that begins with Hillary Clinton, the State Department, the FBI, and the top of the DOJ in order to ensure there were no special favors given to Mrs. Clinton. Accomplishing this will help to restore trust in the public’s mind that their government institutions are not corrupt and that the rule of law prevails.

Donald Trump isn’t advocating throwing Hillary in jail without due process.  He is, after all, the law and order candidate. What he is advocating for is that the political elites live under the same laws as the rest of the American people and in Hillary’s case; it appears that the entire investigation was a sham to exonerate her so that she could run for president.

The Trump campaign should hold a press conference right now to clarify what he is advocating for and maybe even write an Op-Ed in The Wall Street Journal. If he outlines the case for a special prosecutor by highlighting all the crimes of her hidden email server, her lies, and her obstruction of justice, then, I believe, many more undecided voters and feeble Hillary supporters will support Donald Trump or at least not be enthusiastic to vote for Clinton.

Third world dictators don’t follow the rule of law and unfortunately, Hillary Clinton believes she’s above the law as well.  Let’s make sure that our government leaders in the United States are held to account by not turning a blind eye and ensuring that the law applies to everyone.  The rule of law is a pillar of our democracy and without it; our country will continue to decline.
